Abstract
This study aims to find out the effectiveness of using Wordwall to enhance students’ vocabulary of recount text at SMPN 01 Gandusari. In this research, the researcher wanted to know how was the effectiveness of Wordwall to enhance the students’vocabulary of recount text especially in using vocabulary in the context, of recount text, defining the words, finding synonyms and antonyms of VIII G at SMPN 01 Gandusari Blitar.
This research used a pre-expreimental one-group pre-test andpost-test design to determine the effectiveness of Wordwall to enhance students’ vocabulary of recount text of class VIII G at SMPN 01 Gandusari Blitar with total of 28 students. The research procedures covered 3 important steps, they were pre-test, treatment, and post-test. To gain the data the researcher used tests. Before the test was tested on the respondent the test was tried out to the same level to know the validity and reliability of the test. The researcher analyzed the data by using paired sample t-test with SPSS 24.0.
The result showed that the students’ achievement in learning vocabulary of recount text increased from the pre-test 70.14 to post-test 83.29. Moreover, from the result of paired sample t-test, it was found that the value of Sig. (2-tailed) is <0.05. It means there is a significant difference between learning outcomes in pre-test and post-test data. Therefore , we can conclude that Wordwall is effective to enhance the eight-grade studets’ anchievemnt in learning vocabulary of recount text at SMPN 01 Gandusari Blitar.
Based on the result of this research, it is suggested for the teachers to use the Wordwall in teaching learning English to make the students learn the material with fun. In this case, the teacher may use the Wordwall for teaching other topics. Furthermore, it is suggested for the students to learn and review the material of recount text that they have to learn regularly anywhere ang everywhere. Moreover, it is suggested that the future researcher may conduct a study or research on the use of Wordwall for knowing the students’ or tachers’ responses toward the use of Wordwall for teaching and learning other topics or do a comparative study by comparing the use of Wordwall for learning vocabularies such as Duolingo, Buusu, etc.
