Abstract
Keywords: Students’_Motivation; English_Digital_Literacy; Implementation.
Low student motivation in English literacy activities remains one of the key challenges in 21st-century learning, especially in vocational school settings. A lack of interest in printed texts and limited access to learning materials often leads students to be passive in developing their literacy skills. As a solution, the use of Literacy Cloud as a digital learning medium is expected to enhance students’ motivation and engagement in reading activities. This study aims to explore students’ motivation and responses toward the implementation of Literacy Cloud in English digital literacy learning at SMK YP Kotamadya Blitar.
This research employed a qualitative approach using a case study design. The research subjects consisted of one English teacher and two eleventh-grade students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observation, and documentation, then analyzed using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model, which involved open coding, axial coding, and selective coding.
The results showed that Literacy Cloud was effective in increasing students' motivation, both intrinsically and extrinsically. Students felt more interested and comfortable using digital media that aligned with their interests, and they showed active engagement in reading. Although technical issues such as internet disruption and visual fatigue were encountered, student participation remained high due to teacher support and the flexible nature of the media.
In conclusion, Literacy Cloud has proven to be a relevant learning medium for enhancing students' motivation and positive responses in English digital literacy. Therefore, teachers are encouraged to consistently integrate digital media in their teaching, students should be motivated to develop independent reading habits, and future researchers are advised to further investigate the long-term impact of this platform on students’ literacy skills.
