PERSEPSI MASYARAKAT TERHADAP KEBERADAAN PETERNAKAN SAPI PERAH PADA PERMUKIMAN WARGA DI LINGKUNGAN BALAPAN KELURAHAN SUKOREJO KOTA BLITAR

This study investigates public perceptions of dairy farming in residents'
settlements within the Balapan Environment, Sukorejo Village, Blitar City. Using
a survey method, respondents 51-60 years old, primarily self-employed, shared
their views on the positive and negative impacts of dairy farming. The analysis
revealed that a majority of respondents, with a score of 138, fell into the "Tidak
Terbantu" (Not Helped) category, indicating minimal perceived benefits from the
farm’s existence. In contrast, the "Cukup Terbantu" (Somewhat Helped) and
"Sangat Terbantu" (Highly Helped) categories scored 151 and 270, respectively,
reflecting limited economic contributions such as job creation and infrastructure
improvement. On the negative side, environmental concerns dominated the
perception. A total negative perception score of 738 was recorded, with key issues
being the proliferation of flies, which affected 95.56% of respondents with a score
of 220, and improper waste disposal into the river, which disturbed 94.44% of
respondents with a score of 212. Additionally, 74.45% of respondents were
troubled by the unpleasant odor, scoring 165, while 35.55% expressed concerns
over water pollution, with a score of 141. Despite some benefits like fresh milk
availability, these positive contributions were insufficient to outweigh the
significant discomfort caused by environmental pollution. The study concludes
that there is a need for improved waste management and enhanced collaboration
between dairy farms and local residents to address these concerns and optimize
the potential benefits of dairy farming in the area.
