Abstract
Saputri, M. T. W. (2024). The Effectiveness of Lingodeer on Enhancing Students' Vocabulary Mastery in the Tenth Grade at SMAN 4 Blitar. Thesis, English Education Departments, Undergraduate Program, Universitas Islam Balitar. Advisors: Hesty Puspita Sari, M.Pd., & Yusniarsi Primasari, M.Pd
Keywords: Lingodeer, Vocabulary Mastery
This study examined the effectiveness of the Lingodeer application in enhancing the vocabulary mastery of tenth-grade specially for X-I students at SMAN 4 Blitar. The research was motivated by the need to explore digital tools that can support English language learning, especially in classes with relatively lower proficiency. Given the increasing importance of technology in education, this study aimed to assess whether Lingodeer could significantly improve students' vocabulary skills.
The study employed a pre-test and post-test design, focusing on one experimental group consisting of 36 students. These students were selected based on recommendations from supervising teachers, identifying them as needing additional support in English. The intervention involved four sessions using the Lingodeer application over a period of two weeks. Data collection was conducted through pre-tests and post-tests, with analysis performed using the Statistical Product and Service Solutions (SPSS) program.
The findings revealed a significant improvement in students' vocabulary mastery, as evidenced by the increase in the average pre-test score from 63 to 83 in the post-test. The Independent Sample T-Test confirmed this improvement with a p-value of 0.00, indicating statistical significance. Furthermore, the homogeneity test results (p-value 0.562) showed no significant difference in variances between the pre-test and post-test groups. These results suggest that the Lingodeer application is an effective tool for enhancing vocabulary learning. The study recommends incorporating digital tools like Lingodeer into the curriculum to improve student engagement and learning outcomes.
