Abstract
This quantitative study investigated the efficacy of the Beelinguapp mobile application in improving the reading comprehension of procedural texts among tenth-grade students (class X-10) at SMAN 1 Kademangan. The study was motivated by the students' initial difficulties in understanding procedure text, as evidenced by pretest scores falling below the school's established mastery criterion.
Employing a one-group pretest-posttest experimental design, the research focused on students from class X-10, purposively selected based on their prior reading assessments. The intervention involved integrating Beelinguapp into the students' learning experience, utilizing its features such as dual-language text presentation and audio narration to bolster vocabulary acquisition, comprehension strategies, and understanding of text structure.
The posttest results revealed a significant improvement in students' reading comprehension of procedure text, with their average scores increasing from 72.65 to 81.47. This enhancement was statistically confirmed through a paired sample t-test (p < 0.05), demonstrating the efficacy of Beelinguapp in fostering reading comprehension skills in the context of procedure text among the targeted student population. These findings contribute to the growing body of evidence supporting the integration of mobile applications as valuable tools for enhancing language learning and comprehension in educational settings.
